Stripe Reportedly Developing Payments-Focused Blockchain ’Tempo’ with Paradigm
Stripe, the $91.5 billion fintech giant, is quietly building a Layer 1 blockchain named Tempo in collaboration with crypto venture firm Paradigm. The project surfaced through a since-deleted job posting on the Blockchain Association's board, which described Tempo as a "high-performance, payments-focused blockchain."
The MOVE follows Stripe's aggressive crypto infrastructure expansion, including its $1.1 billion acquisition of stablecoin platform Bridge and undisclosed purchase of wallet developer Privy. Analysts suggest Tempo could differentiate itself through predictable transaction fees—a persistent pain point in existing networks.
While neither Stripe nor Paradigm has confirmed the development, the project aligns with Stripe's gradual re-entry into crypto since 2022. Market observers note that success may hinge on balancing regulatory compliance with the decentralized ethos of blockchain technology.
